Today is a VERY special day as it is our 3 year anniversary with our primary company, Visalus!

Now, if Aaron Fortner (mentor and now Diamond Ambassador who introduced us to Vi) would have told me (on December 15th, 2010) that in under 3 years we would impact thousands of people’s lives around the world and make over a Million dollars in 34 months, I probably would have laughed at him…

Not because I didn’t have hope for the unseen, or that I didn’t believe in the industry and the doors it could open.  But because I had been on what seemed to be a LOSING STREAK for over 6 years.  I could see success for other people, but I couldn’t quite see it being POSSIBLE for me (us)…yet.

You see, I was a former Medical Assistant.  I had just become a new Mom and prior to that, I had tried nearly every imaginable “Work from Home Business Opportunity” you could think of.  From air purification, to travel, to skin care, to online “systems”…even flee market nicknacks from infomercials…(don’t ask).

In nearly 7 years, struggling to find the right opportunity, I found myself over $35,000 in debt from various ventures.  This didn’t sit well on the home front.  My husband was tired of watching me hit walls and fall into the wrong “niche” just to dispense more money into poor advertising ideas and other “experimental” marketing techniques.

I didn’t blame him…

But I was determined to scratch the itch and show him and everyone else that I wasn’t crazy.  That there was something behind the method to my madness!

I’m sure you can guess what happened next.  I scraped up a $499 investment from a home equity loan credit card (I was clinching my fists wondering if it would go through) and got started with a team that has now become the most successful team inside the company.

The whole story I will leave for another time, but because of one decision, in 3 short years we became Vi-Millionaires in the MLM and Direct Selling Industry.

The REAL message for this post is inspired by one of my mentors, the late Jim Rohn (R.I.P.).  He said:

“It’s not a Million Dollars that matters most, it’s WHO you have to become in the process of achieving it.”

THAT is what I’m most grateful for.

Honestly, this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done.  I’ve worked more than I ever have.  I’ve had to stretch myself in SO many areas.  I’ve had to let go of trying to please everyone.  I’ve had to reflect on who my true relationships are and who I spend my time with.  I’ve had to stand against being taken advantage of.  I’ve had to lean not on my own understanding but trust in God and pray about EVERYTHING.

I’ve been forced to stare at my weaknesses and have been blessed to be shown my strengths.

I’ve had to remain humble.  To learn how to speak less, listen more and put others above myself.  I’ve had to quit bad habits that don’t align with our mission.  I’ve had to discipline myself in the area of scheduling and time management.  I’ve had to say NO to some things I didn’t care to, in order to stay on course.  I’ve been disappointed by people and have had to forgive…many times.

I’ve found myself out of balance and have had to define the priorities most important to me to stay on track.  I’ve had to relaunch my business and re-ignight my passion…more than once.  I’ve had people quit, I’ve had to get over it.  I’ve gotten hate mail and bad commentary, I’ve had to turn the other cheek.  I’ve experienced rejection, and learned to turn to THE ONE that brings unconditional acceptance and guidance.

Above all, I’ve learned how to serve at a level where only God can see.  The level beyond recognition and approval.  The level that when no one is looking, you always choose to do the right thing and sacrifice for the sake of others.

I believe true success comes from the CHALLENGES we not only face, but we overcome by hanging on and moving forward.  These challenges have refined and developed a character, a STRENGTH that can only be developed through being TESTED and by overcoming opposition.

THAT is what I’m most grateful for.  The INNER CHANGE that can now be taught and GIFTED to others through accepting the journey.  I believe it is in that place that TRUE PURPOSE and FULFILLMENT can be found.

I want to thank my incredible team for allowing me the opportunity every day to learn and grow from you.  Thank you to those that believed in me, and also to the ones that didn’t, so I can now proudly say…I TOLD YOU SO.

Cheers to 3 years Visalus, let’s create even more amazing things in the years to come!
