Cure For The Common Life

Mar 10, 2017 | Uncategorized | 10 comments

The title of this post is inspired by the book Cure for the Common Lifeby Max Lucado.

It’s about discovering your ‘Sweet Spot’ in life and how to operate at your fullest potential, and although I’m going to touch a bit on what he taught in the book, I really want to focus on how you can apply this to your life so YOU can start operating at YOUR fullest potential.

I think we ALL desire to be living in our “sweet spot” in life.  Using our God-given talents, giftings…etc.  This is where we find HAPPINESS and contentment….giving our best in life.

So first, I want you think about one person that you think is just “Bigger than Life”. You look at them and say “Wow, that person is just MADE for what they do”.

Think of Tiger Woods for example: Tiger is an exceptionally good golfer, (I’m not saying that he has the greatest of reputations in his personal life right now) but none the less, a great golfer.

Another one, Michael Jordan…MADE for basketball greatness…

Michael Jackson, MADE to entertain…

Lady Gaga, MADE to wear dresses made out of meat;-)

You get the idea.

Now picture one of the above people trying to operate outside of their current talents, gifts, interests and abilities.  They would be miserable, right?

You and I are NO different.

I think most people go through life never giving thought to what they were really “designed” to do.  They just live (day in and day out) being, well…

MISERABLE.

They don’t like their job, they wish they had more money, more time with their family, better stuff for their kids, they want the bigger house, the nicer car, the grandiose vacations, the smooth retirement, financial freedom…etc.  They don’t like the way their life is going and they almost feel “misplaced” in their current situation, like they are playing someone else’s hand in life.

If this sounds like you,  you are NOT alone…

In fact 550,000 people a month type “Home Based Business”into Google, searching for a way out.  A way out of the credit card debt, a way out of foreclosure, a way out their DEAD-End job that holds a false sense of security anyway.

1,220,000 people are looking for an “Online Business” per month.  This is why the words “saturate the market” simply hold NO meaning (whatsoever) when it comes to the online marketplace.

So I want to give you a quick example of how I personally got to the bottom of WHY I got involved in Online Marketing and how it is in complete alignment with my lifes’ “master plan”…since the very beginning.

My intention is to help you dig deeper into WHY you are involved in this industry (or why you would like to be), because truth be told, it’s NOT for everyone.  I want you to start operating in your “sweet spot”, whether it is here online, or in the real world;-)

I’ll spare you the entire process that Max (the author) goes into for discovering your sweet spot, but I’ll tell you the Molly Dalbec rendition…

Short, sweet, and to the point.

So the basic concept is to go back in time.  Now, I’m not big on dwelling in the past and I’m not a huge fan of needing to dig things up to overcome things.  I believe in the “here and now”…the present.  That’s all we have, and why waste time on where, who, and what we used to be?

But it made sense to go back (on this occasion), because it was important to me that I was 100% sure that I was operating in my “sweet spot” for the particular role of “business/career” path.

So think back as far as you can, (for me, it was about age 4 or 5) and try to remember what interested you most at that time.  Try to let go of any bad memories you may have had at that time, and really go there.  Think of what you were good at, what you thought about, what made you happy?  Then see if any of that makes sense or ties into what you are interested in, or good at today.

If not, it’s time to make some positive changes;-)

For example, when I was young (around 4, 5, 6ish) my older brother (I’m one of 5) and I were only allowed to watch about an hour of t.v. a day, (which I am thankful for now because I still think watching t.v. is a waste of life).  Anyway, I vividly remember watching the commercials (in between Mr. Ed and Lassie, seriously)

and I would think up different ways that I would “re-make” the commercial.  So for example I would be like “If I made that commercial, I would say this instead of that”, or figure out ways to present it differently that would make people want to buy the product.

My point is that I had an interest in marketing FAR before I got myself involved, and I didn’t realize that until I did this excersize.

We also used to have lemonade stands and I remember the feeling I would get when people would buy my lemonade.  It was like I was on top of the world because I found a way to make money in my very own neighborhood, oh the exhilaration!

What’s funny is that now I operate in an industry that I can create all the commercials just how I like them and set up as many damn lemonade stands as I want.  And when you really think about it, it’s really that simple.

So I want to encourage you to think about what you used to be good at, interested in, talented at…and search out your way to operate in it.

I would love to hear how this message inspired you, so please leave a comment and share it with your friends!

Be Great!

Hi Molly 🙂 – Great content, although my mind went places totally uconnected with the “sweet spot” in the beginning (Lady Gaga reminded me of the Bonanza show lead in where a branding iron burned the picture of the ranch and the real ranch appeared – and a branding iron would be great to brand her with)

    – whereas returning to early childhood caused a memory like it occurred 10 minutes ago – I was 3, it was bedtime, my parents had company, I didn’t want to go to bed; instead of throwing a hissy fit I walked up the stairs to a landing and put on a theatrical presentation of “Then I Got Smart” in which I played several characters – 2 men chasing me and “then i got smart” and ducked into an alley – this went on until it wasn’t funny and my mother said “say goodnight Bob”, which was a line from George Burns “say goodnight Gracie”.

    – it took until adulthood to fully grasp that I am very creative, enjoy being in my right brain, love an audience and being a Go-Giver which is my brand.

So my friend Molly – I’ll say goodnight 🙂
